Account Deletion

Last updated: 14 May 2026

SoHey is operated by So Hey Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09957307.

This page explains how you can delete your SoHey account and what happens to your data when you do.

SoHey is currently in beta and is available to users aged 18 or over.

1. Deleting your account in the app

You can delete your account from within the SoHey app.

To delete your account:

  • Open the SoHey app
  • Go to Profile
  • Open Settings
  • Select Delete Account

Follow the on-screen confirmation steps.

Account deletion is permanent. Once your account has been deleted, you will not be able to recover your profile, photos, account history or SoHey identity.

2. What happens when you delete your account

When you delete your account, SoHey will delete or anonymise your account data.

This includes:

  • Deleting your SoHey account.
  • Deleting your authentication account.
  • Deleting your uploaded profile photos/selfies.
  • Removing your personal identity from past verified meet records.
  • Anonymising your participation in previous verified meets.
  • Removing your nearby visibility.
  • Removing your active account from the app.

After deletion, other users should no longer see your profile, name, photos or personal identity in SoHey.

3. Verified meet records

SoHey is built around verified real-world interactions. For this reason, verified meet records may be retained in anonymised form after an account is deleted.

This helps preserve the integrity of the other user’s own meet history without continuing to identify you.

For example, if you delete your account, another user who previously completed a verified meet with you may still see that a verified meet took place, but your personal details will be removed or anonymised.

This may include removing or anonymising:

  • Your name.
  • Your profile photo.
  • Your SoHey identity data.
  • Your location label for that meet.
  • Other identifying information connected to your deleted account.

The retained meet record is intended to preserve the fact that a verified real-world interaction occurred, not to continue identifying you.

4. Safety, moderation and legal records

In some cases, SoHey may retain limited records after account deletion where this is necessary for safety, security, moderation, audit or legal reasons.

This may include limited information relating to:

  • User reports.
  • Blocks.
  • Safety concerns.
  • Account deletion logs.
  • Technical security records.
  • Legal compliance.
  • Protection of users or the service.

These records are not used to keep your public profile active and are not shown to other users as profile information.

Where we retain limited information for these purposes, we do so only where we consider it necessary and lawful, including where needed to protect users, investigate misuse, comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. Data that cannot be recovered

Account deletion is irreversible.

Once your account has been deleted:

  • You cannot log back into the deleted account.
  • Your profile cannot be restored.
  • Your photos cannot be restored.
  • Your SoHey identity cannot be restored.
  • Your account history cannot be restored.

If you want to request access to your data, please contact us before deleting your account.

6. Requesting your data before deletion

If you would like to request a copy of your personal data before deleting your account, contact us at:

info@sohey.app

Please make your request before deleting your account. Once deletion has been completed, some data may no longer be available or may already have been anonymised.

7. If you cannot access the app

If you cannot access the SoHey app but want to request deletion of your account, contact us at:

info@sohey.app

Please contact us from the email address connected to your SoHey account where possible. We may need to verify that you are the account holder before processing a deletion request.

8. How long deletion takes

In-app account deletion is designed to take effect immediately.

Some technical systems, backups, logs, app-store systems or third-party service records may take longer to update. Where limited data remains temporarily in backups or logs, it will be handled securely and removed or overwritten in line with normal operational processes.

9. Third party services

SoHey uses trusted service providers to operate the app and website. These may include services for authentication, hosting, storage, analytics, push notifications, email and app testing.

When your account is deleted, SoHey will take steps to delete or anonymise your account data from the systems we control. Some third-party services may retain limited technical records, logs or app-store/testing records according to their own retention practices and legal obligations.

10. Your UK and EU data protection rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under UK and/or EU data protection law. These may include the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of personal data, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability.

To exercise your rights, contact us at:

info@sohey.app

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
