Last updated: 14 May 2026

SoHey is operated by So Hey Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09957307.

These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect from everyone using SoHey.

SoHey is currently in beta and is available only to users aged 18 or over.

1. Our community principles

SoHey is designed to support real-world, in-person social connection.

The app is built around trust, clarity and verified real-world interactions.

When using SoHey, you must:

  • Treat others with respect
  • Act honestly
  • Use the app safely
  • Respect personal boundaries
  • Only verify real-world meets that genuinely happen
  • Report behaviour that feels unsafe, abusive or suspicious

You must not use SoHey to harass, intimidate, deceive, exploit or harm others.

2. 18+ only

SoHey is currently for users aged 18 or over

You must not use SoHey if you are under 18

You must not encourage or help anyone under 18 to create an account or use SoHey

You must not misrepresent your age or create an account using false age information

If we believe a user is under 18, we may suspend or delete the account

3. Be respectful

You must treat other users respectfully.

You must not engage in:

  • Harassment
  • Bullying
  • Threats
  • Abuse
  • Intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Unwanted repeated contact
  • Humiliation or degrading behaviour
  • Aggressive or unsafe behaviour
  • Behaviour that makes another user feel unsafe or pressured

SoHey is not a place for abusive, hostile or exploitative conduct.

4. No hate, discrimination or targeted abuse

You must not use SoHey to attack, abuse, threaten or exclude people based on protected or personal characteristics.

This includes behaviour based on:

  • Race
  • Ethnicity
  • Nationality
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Disability
  • Age
  • Pregnancy or maternity
  • Any other protected or personal characteristic

Hateful, discriminatory or dehumanising behaviour is not allowed.

5. No sexual harassment or exploitation

You must not use SoHey for sexual harassment, coercion, exploitation or unwanted sexual behaviour.

This includes:

  • Unwanted sexual comments
  • Sexual pressure
  • Sexual threats
  • Sending or requesting sexual content inappropriately
  • Using verified meets to pressure someone
  • Trying to exploit another person sexually
  • Any sexual conduct involving or directed towards a person under 18

SoHey has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. For more information, see our Child Safety Standards.

6. Be honest about who you are

You must not impersonate another person or misrepresent yourself.

You must not:

  • Create a fake identity
  • Use someone else’s photos
  • Pretend to be someone else
  • Mislead users about your age, identity or intentions
  • Create accounts to evade restrictions or moderation
  • Use another person’s account without permission

SoHey is designed around trust. Misrepresentation undermines that trust and may result in account action.

7. Use SoHey verification honestly

SoHey’s verified meet system is designed to confirm real-world interactions.

You must not misuse the verification system.

You must not:

  • Verify a meet that did not happen
  • Ask someone to verify a fake meet
  • Pressure someone to scan a QR code
  • Share QR codes remotely to create fake meets
  • Use screenshots, screen sharing or other methods to fake verification
  • Attempt to farm points or manipulate your SoHey identity
  • Use automated tools, scripts or bots
  • Try to interfere with the app’s location, QR, identity or verification systems
  • Attempt to exploit bugs or technical weaknesses

Verified meets should represent genuine, in-person interactions.

8. Respect location and real-world safety

SoHey uses check-ins and location-based features to help users discover nearby people and verify real-world meets.

You must use these features responsibly.

You must not:

  • Use SoHey to track, stalk or monitor another person
  • Misuse location information
  • Pressure someone to meet
  • Mislead someone about your location
  • Create unsafe situations
  • Follow someone after they decline or disengage
  • Attempt to bypass location or proximity checks

A verified meet does not mean that SoHey has fully verified a person’s identity, background, intentions or safety.

Use your own judgement. Meet in safe places, leave if you feel uncomfortable, and contact emergency services if you are in danger.

9. No illegal activity

You must not use SoHey for illegal activity.

  • Threaten or harm another person
  • Exploit another person
